Summary of Position –
To provide overall management of the Feed Mill area and to keep the Facility Manager informed of related production issues. The Feed Mill Manager’s main focus must be to provide all feeds when needed within the cost parameters established by management to maximize production throughout the facilities. All feed rations are mixed properly and in a timely fashion. All rations are produced and delivered within the established budgets.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods on varied surfaces, and capable of being on their feet for up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to work in noise levels that may require hearing protection
- Must possess ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm
- Must possess good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the use of hands to handle, grasp, or feel objects, tools, controls, or animals.
Responsibilities

- Meet Production goals for the feed Mill area
- Be accountable for this area of production, and your personal performance and adhere to the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Follow and enforce the operating procedures and policies for the Feed Mill area
- Maintain biosecurity in this area
- Operate all equipment, trucks, conveyors, motors, and workaround storage facilities in a safe manner
- Remember that when our equipment is on the road making deliveries, it represents the operation’s reputation. Drive carefully and with respect to other drivers
- Maintain the quality of all feedstuffs whether they are stored in the mixing area or in commodity storage areas
- Blend all rations according to prescribed menus, on time and without waste
- Make seasonal changes to rations according to established procedures
- Maintain close accounting of all feedstuffs. Recognize and respect the high cost of some feed additives and use them according to established procedures.
- Maintain the inventory of all the ingredients needed. Order as needed. It is the sole responsibility of the feed Mill Manager to never run out of any feed ingredient.
- Be aware of all withdrawal times and report any inconsistencies immediately.
- Keep costs contained. Do not be wasteful of resources or materials. Operated in a manner that keeps costs low. Provide suggestions to reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records. Provide reports and any other pertinent information to the Facility Manager on a schedule agreed upon between the Facility manager and yourself.
- Maintain the Feed Mill area in a good state of repair.
- Maintain good rodent control
- Keep feed Mill facilities neat and presentable
Requirements
- Respect and care for all animals is required. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to inhumane treatment of our animals. Knowledge & enforcement of the latest industry biosecurity practices must be observed and enforced throughout the farm.
- Individual must be dedicated, goal-oriented, motivated, and able to work effectively as a team member
- Positive, friendly, and respectful demeanor at all times
- Must be a self-starter that can operate at times unsupervised
- Previous experience in the pork industry is desired, but not mandatory
- Ability to do basic math (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Regular, consistent attendance is required with flexibility in hours a plus. Must be willing to work some weekends.
